Welcome to the Salem, NH Police Department website. The Salem Police Department is a full-service police agency, serving a resident population of approximately 30,000 citizens. Due to our large and diverse retail base and various recreational businesses, we also serve a daytime population of approximately 70,000. That number increases to over 90,000 residents and visitors at various time of the year. We have a staff of 62 full-time officers, plus over 30 civilian staff and part time officers. Our staff is dedicated to protecting the high quality of life that we enjoy in Salem. Our officers and civilian staff are well-trained and highly motivated. We work in partnership with other local, state and federal agencies, as well as our corporate partners, to meet the needs of our community. In keeping in New Hampshire tradition, we share resources, training, and our experience with our New Hampshire agencies in order to provide cost-effective, efficient and effective services for our community.
