Office of the Chief

Message from the Chief

chiefdonovanWelcome to the Salem, NH Police Department website. We are a full-service police agency, serving a community of approximately 30,000 residents. Our daytime population increases to 70,000 and around certain times of the year to over 85,000 due the the many businesses and organizations in our community. A staff of 59 FT sworn officers, 22 PT sworn officers, and 20 non-sworn personnel provide competent, effective and efficient law enforcement service to our community. Our officers are well-trained in the delivery of police services in an atmosphere of regional cooperation. We have found value in working with other Town and regional agencies, sharing resources, training and experience to provide a superior quality of life for our residents and visitors.

We value our partnerships with and within our community organizations, our school system and the other law enforcement agencies with which we work. Our delivery of services to our residents and visitors is guided by the vision set by our Town Manager of "services second to none". Please come to Salem and visit our parks, businesses, and recreational facilities. Salem is a great place to live, work and visit.

As you continue on viewing our website you will find a FAQ's section, various forms which may be downloaded, and interesting links.
